Your future duties & challenges
As a part of the VSL technical Center, you will be responsible for methods works for various projects related to our activities and you will help us to deploy innovative solutions on our customers’ projects. VSL hosts its Technical Centres in Bern, Barcelona, Dubai, Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong. We are looking to reinforce our team in Switzerland (Bern) by recruiting a Senior Methods Engineer able to support our Business Development and Operations teams. We are opening this great opportunity, following an internal evolution of the current holder.

The team in our technical centre in Bern/Switzerland is mainly focused on providing support and technical competence to our business developers, our site engineers and to offer a strong added value to our customers. Together, we work in a multidisciplinary environment to improve our technologies and develop new, optimized and differentiating solutions. How will you make an impact?
As a Senior Methods Engineer, you will work on projects of all sizes mainly internationally but also in Switzerland. Your responsibilities will be:
- Responsible for methods works for projects (tender or executions)
- Concept or Detailing methods (2D and 3D CAD knowledge required- AUTOCAD , SOLIDWORKS) for civil works including precast segment production, segmental bridge erection with crane and lifting frames, repair projects …
- Preparation of methods statements and check lists together with site teams
- Scheduling (MS project knowledge)
- Temporary works design
- Steel structure preliminary design
- Collaborate with other engineers within the teams (Technical Team in Switzerland or in other countries) working on design, stay cable or method
- Collaborate with the site (execution), the pricing department (tender), and the internal Business Lines
- Technically supporting projects worldwide (missions of 2-3 months abroad possible)
- Participating in VSL transverse project teams

Who are we looking for?
- MSc Degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering
- At least 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience in methods on site
- Excellent analytical skills and strong communications skills (international team and cultures)
- A mindset of innovation and early adoption of new digital technologies
- Proficient written and spoken English skills; good written and spoken French skills; German skills are a plus
- Knowledge in Post Tensioning structure is a plus
