Produces preliminary design drawings and working drawings.

Jaydrath, draughtsman
The idea of becoming a draughtsman occurred to me when I was sixteen, when I started drawing plans of houses in Mauritius, which is where I come from. A draughtsman is a major player in the design and construction of projects. My principal motivation is to carry out my work on schedule, because I know that the progress of the building site depends on my work.

Your main duties

You design quality plans and transform projects and solutions for future structures (Buildings, Infrastructures or Energies) into drawings. You call on your technical and/or architectural knowledge, and apply current regulations and standards. In certain specialist areas, you will produce or take part in producing digital models which will be incorporated in the commercial presentation. During the construction process, you may be required to keep track of the progress of the site in order to incorporate modifications into the working drawings.

Your future path

Possibilities of transfers to Technical or Works professions.

Your profile

You have a 2- or 3-year undergraduate diploma specialising in Building, Energy or Draughtsmanship, are a proficient user of AutoCAD, and are particularly at ease with computer-aided design. You are meticulous, and your ability to listen and your liking for teamwork will enable you to deliver your projects, with the cooperation of the technical teams.
