The Junior Cost Controller position is responsible for establishing and managing budgets, tracking costs, and driving the forecasting process on site. They are expected to build strong relationships with the delivery team to support decision making and mitigate risks. Additionally, they should challenge the site forecasts and program through various analysis, using Earned-Value. The ability to provide early warnings and think independently is crucial for success in this role.
Key responsibilities:
1. Establish and maintain budgets and cost trackers to drive site outcomes effectively.
2. Ensure budget integrity and enforce rigorous implementation of project processes.
3. Support management decision making by conducting cost analyses on key cost
drivers.
4. Analyze significant cost variances using Earned-Value and Cost Performance Index
(CPI) methods.
5. Monitor site progress closely and analyze schedule performance to identify any
challenges.
6. Lead the forecasting process on site and challenge operational teams and
management through cost estimation and projections.
7. Provide early warning for key issues and escalate them if necessary.
8. Assist the commercial team in validating scope, budget, and claims assessment.
9. Ensure timely payments and proper invoice checks for subcontractors and
suppliers.
10. Contribute to project reviews and prepare monthly reports.
11. Provide financial information in compliance with project policies, particularly for internal and external auditors.
12. Review project risks and opportunities and assist in developing appropriate mitigation measures

2. 2 years’ experience in a Junior Cost Control/ Finance officer role
3. Advanced excel & accounting skills
4. Methodical, organised and meticulous with common sense

6. Ability to critique, recommend and implement, initiatives that seek efficiencies either from a process or systems perspective
