Your scope of duties
Analysis of technical documentation,
Search and development of new business opportunities in repair and strengthening
Preparation of technical and budget proposals in cooperation with production team and VSL group
Relation with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Presentations on seminars and other business promotion activities
Contract preparation both clients and subcontractors

VSL is looking for a Business Development Manager to work in Sydney within our VSL Australia teams.
How will you make an impact?
Main responsibilities:
1.     Profitability of VSL Australia
- The profitability of VSL Australia (job procurement) in accordance with agreed principles of tender allowances, operations, programmes, overhead and operational budgets
 
2.     Tendering Operations
 
- Preparation of tenders, budgets and reports as may be required.  Ensure Project costs and conditions are reviewed at time of handover to the Operations/Project Manager.  Advise Managers of significant changes.  Ensure contract documents are reviewed and signed before project commencement
- Conduct inspections as necessary to assist with tendering function.
- Management of marketing activities.
This includes:
·       Maintain awareness of market situation
·       Liaise with Clients to maintain and build awareness of the company
·       Negotiate with Clients
·       Obtain approval of tender submissions
·       Assist Operations department with management of additional works, variations
 - Participate in monthly VSL BDM Meetings, Management Review and Objective Meetings involving all key VSL personnel
-        Attendance at Project Point Reviews
-        Develop detailed estimate for Civil Works Projects (predominantly focused on bridge construction/ Heavy Lift).

3.     Human Resource Management

- Work with General Manager and Human Resources in staff planning, resourcing levels.
Plan and monitor BDM department resource levels
- The building and development of teamwork.  Encouraging high levels of staff performance and motivation
 
4.     Marketing & Sales
 
- The initiation and development of new business opportunities in areas of the company's existing technologies and other related fields.  In particular this includes the securing of bridge construction works, prime contractor works, project and construction management assignments, other activities in civil engineering and other specialist activities
- Be aware of the other opportunities for VSL works and advise other BDM’s accordingly

VSL is looking to appoint a Ground Engineering Estimator to support our tender studies in European region.
The key duty of the role is to create work winning offers in accordance with VSL’s strategy and guidance.
This role works closely with other members of the preconstruction team and will be supported by the preconstruction manager and commercial manager.
The successful candidate will be a good planner and able to manage their own workload and work well within a team.
The role is primarily based at Becket House, VSL’s central London location but may require travel.

How will you make an impact?
Main responsibilities:
Ensure all tender correspondence is recorded and logged
Ensure all proposals and estimate deadlines are met
Review contents of tender documentation and provide feasibility advice
Prepare and submit tender queries / clarifications
Prepare bills of quantities / schedule of rates for tender applications and 1st principle estimates
Preparing detailed proposals ensuring client guidelines and specifications are adhered to
Ensure estimates and offer take adequate account of applicable legislation and recognised industry standards on health, safety, quality and environment.
Participates in the value engineering/choice of alternatives during the preparation of the bid.
Leads and coordinates the projects with the Bid Manager, the preconstruction Manager and the commercial manager.
Co-ordinate the tender preparation documents submitted by other departments, ensuring that they adequately address the client's requirements.
Studies technical, legal and financial aspects and puts forward a commercial strategy.
Takes part in the negotiation of bids but not the signing.
Prepare and submit subcontract enquiries in line with company processes
Review subcontract tender submissions for compliance and inclusion into the estimate
Seeks out and targets future business, prospects for and obtains a loyal client base.
Looks for new markets and new partners.
