Creates, develops and manages property operations from A to Z.

Christiane, deputy director of property development
After 18 years in technical and commercial posts, I wanted to work further upstream and to be in a position where I was initiating projects, starting from a blank sheet. A property developer is like an orchestra conductor coordinating all the actions that are needed for the launch, development and construction of a property project. This career change has given me a much better overview of the construction industry.

Your main duties

You initiate operations by seeking out customers and partners (institutional or private investors, developers, users, etc.) and you identify needs upstream in order to transform them into property projects.
You manage and direct the various phases of a property operation (feasibility, design, technical studies, legal and financial dossiers, finalisation, etc.) in cooperation with the project stakeholders.
Your aims are to reply promptly to needs expressed by the customer and develop a high value-added project which can then be constructed by our works teams.

Your future path

Project manager or team leader.

Possible transfer to professions in Financial Engineering and Sales.

Your profile

You have a postgraduate-level diploma from an engineering school, business school or university), and you will need a good overview of our industry and the project cycle. You are meticulous, fast-acting and versatile, you have an enquiring mind and are interested in the legal, technical and financial aspects of putting together an operation. Your interpersonal and negotiating skills are a genuine asset. You like moving fast, but you can also be patient and persevering, because it takes several years for the success of a property development operation to become obvious.
